Four Seasons Restaurant, New York City

Shown in many Hollywood movies, the Four Seasons Restaurant in New York is the most famous place to eat in Manhattan, maybe the most famous in all the US.   It's actually considered a landmark (the only restaurant that is a landmark in Manhattan).  The chef is Christian Albin, and while everything is expensive, it's wonderfully good.  Some of my favorite dishes are the Dover sole, grilled tuna, and the Maryland Crab cakes.

The interior is designed by Philip Johnson and has a pool with trees, metal curtains, and the two main dining areas are the Pool Room (marble and trees, very romantic) and the grill Room (soaring ceiling, leather everywhere, great for power lunches).

Restaurant reservations

The Four Seasons Restaurant is often booked, especially over lunch or on weekend nights, so definitely get reservations as early as possible.  The best tables are the ones next to the pool in the Pool Room.
