One of the best Japanese Restaurants in New York City

Extraordinary
Masa Japanese Restaurant, New York City

The Time Warner Center, Columbus Circle
(212) 823-9800
Upper West Side
It'll be $400 per person, and add another $100 if you want wine or saki, but the New York City Times says it's the best sushi to be found.  The chefs pick what to give you, but Masa Japanese Restaurant in New York City is a super-star chef restaurant, and that's what is expected.  Reservations are needed 6 months (!) in advance.  Dimly lit, almost like a Shinto shrine.

Chic sushi and private Karaoke rooms
Biny Japanese Restaurant in New York City

8 Thompson St
(212) 334-5490
A, C, E train to Canal St
Amazingly chic and modern, the Biny Japanese Restaurant in New York City has dark walls and white leather chairs.  The sushi is incredible - sashimi, dragon and peacock rolls, and more.  There is private karaoke in designer rooms from 5:00 pm - 4:00 am Monday through Thursday, and on Friday and Saturday it's from 11:00 pm - 4:00 am.  Very friendly, very cool - and great food!

More casual than Nobu
Next Door Nobu Japanese Restaurant in New York City

105 Hudson Street
(212) 334-4445
TriBeCa/SoHo area

Dinner only, the Next Door Nobu is incredibly popular (make reservations).  Like the more upscale Nobu, it has wonderful Japanese food, but emphasizes whole fish for a tble, raw shellfish, and black cod with miso.  They have a good wine list and the sake is incredible.  Check out the Mochi ice cream balls and kobu beef tataki.   Reservations are still a good idea, but not absolutely necessary.

Great Japanese at a reasonable price
Fusia Asian Cuisine Japanese Restaurants in New York City

677C Lexington Avenue (on 56th St.)
(212) 308-2111

This place has great food, but also has a great price.  While it's easy to find great Japanese food in New York City, it's usually really expensive, but not at the Fusia Asian Cuisine Japanese Restaurant in New York City.  They also have Korean food, Chinese, Thai, and Malaysian dishes, plus sushi.  Very friendly, with both traditional and innovative food.  The staff is wonderful, too!  One of our favorite Japanese restaurants in New York City.
