Reservations needed, Asian, very hip
Spice Market Restaurant, New York City

Jean-Georges Vongerichten, along with Gray Kunz, is the chef this incredibly popular new Spice Market Restaurant in New York. There is beautiful wood everywhere, and the (carved) staircase in the center of the room leads down to the beautiful bar, and there are teak pagodas everywhere.  It's a very busy place, and sexy - the women's outfits are backless.  If you have a large party (more than 5), check out the exotic alcoves one floor down.

I recommend the ribs and the shaved tuna at the Spice Market Restaurant in New York - all it's food is inspired by Asian street vendor type food.  If you like hot, try the fried chicken wings (in lime and fish sauce).

Restaurant reservations

The Spice Market Restaurant in New York  is often booked, especially over lunch or on weekend nights, so definitely get reservations as early as possible.  The best tables are the ones next to the pool in the Pool Room.
