Such a great place - since the late 1800s, this place has becmoe a classic.  You can seat yourself, get a ticket for counter service, or get take away.  The meat is made on premises - including over two tons of corned beef per week.  The famous scene from "Harry Met Sally" (you know the one) was done here, and there's a sign in the Deli showing you where it was shot if you'd like to sit there.  Insanely huge open-faced sandwiches of amazing meat on a small slice of bread.  Check out the egg cream!  One of the most famous take out restaurants in all of New York City.

Italian dishes to go make Pepe Rosso To Go famous to all the locals.  There are a few sidewalk tables, but they get taken quickly.  Some of the greatest items they have are the prosciutto di parma sandwich with tomato and beef, also they have ravioli stuffed with fresh mozzarella and whatever is in season.    The tirimisu is amazing, as is all the pasta.

A,C, E train at 14th St.
Next to the Tea and Sympathy, a new restaurant called A Salt and Battery is developing devotees.  Known for the best that British food has to offer (fish and chips), this place is wonderful.  It's pricier than in England ($11), but like England, A Salt and Battery also serves a chip buttie (a sandwich filled with french fries - really!).  Lots and salt and vinegar should go on everything.  Deep fried Mars bars, too.  A small bar for those who don't want to "take away".

One of the fabulous take out restaurants in New York
Smoked fish
Russ & Daughters, by Katz's Deli

179 E Houston St, between Allen Street and Orchard Street

Amazing caviar, salmon, and herring.  Very old school.  Landmark's Sunshine Cinema is down the black.  Lots of smoked fish and cream cheese, famous for its party platters.
